max goelitz x kunstraum9 present the exhibition freedom of manoeuvre with neïl beloufa, gabriel rico and haroon mirza

The privately run KunsTraum9 and max goelitz jointly present the group exhibition "Freedom of manoeuvre" with works by Neïl Beloufa (*1985, FR), Haroon Mirza (*1977, UK) and Gabriel Rico (*1980, MX). The artists are united by their interest in interactions between technology, nature, humans and the universe, using a diverse material language.

Using assemblages and sculptures made from everyday materials and objects such as feathers, stones, neon, used packaging, and solar cells, the artists form complex and delicate works that reference scientific and sociopolitical issues. The title "Freedom of manoeuvre" comes from the work of the same name by Gabriel Rico and guides thematically through the exhibition. In the works, the artists reflect the challenges in the interplay between humans, nature and technology that we are confronted with every day. At the same time, the artworks open up spaces for thought, freedom of action and alternative scenarios in dealing with the common global concern of living in harmony with the environment.

Haroon Mirza develops a multilayered complex of works by means of electronic circuits, solar panels and everyday objects. He connects components with each other and changes their function, as well as the meaning of their cultural and social codes. In this way, his works preserve the rawness and aesthetics of the materials used and refer to cosmic contexts while unfolding a painterly presence.

Fascinated by philosophy and science, Gabriel Rico explores form and space, combining natural materials and industrial products in his sculptures and installations, illuminating the ambivalent relationship between man and nature.

Neïl Beloufa's sculptures, video works, and expansive installations focus on today's digital technology-infused society, its value systems, and representational strategies, creating an artistic language with poetic overlays of reality and fiction.
