From 12 to 14 November 2026, Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel hosts the symposium Dialog der Schrift: Das mögliche Buch. Accompanying the exhibition Die Bibliothek der möglichen Bücher, the symposium considers the possibilities of the book between language, design and artistic practice. Jürgen Partenheimer participates with the lecture Das Ziel in sich selbst. Zur Utopie der Vielfalt.
Artist’s books have been a central part of Partenheimer’s work since 1970. Bringing together drawing and colour, text and image, they approach the book as an artistic space in its own right. Spanning more than five decades, his artist’s books were brought together for the first time in the 2025 catalogue raisonné Die Entfernung im Stand luftwärts. Catalogue raisonné of the artist’s books 1970–2023.
