    The sculpture “Hebe” is part of the work series “Compression Loss”, in which Troika breaks down plaster casts of mythological marble sculptures into individual uniform segments and reassembles them using logically derived sequences or prescribed variations such as doubling or compression.
    In her works, Troika often draws on explanatory models for our reality, examining the interplay between model and actually perceived reality. The title of the series “Compression Loss” refers to the model of compression used, in which data is compressed or reduced in order to make information smaller, but in which some of the information from the original data can also be lost. As a result, “Hebe” - the Greek goddess of eternal youth - is almost unrecognizable. The individual parts were no longer assembled identically to the original model - a plaster cast by Bertel Thorvaldsen. Nevertheless, the reference to the original remains clear.
    By juxtaposing logical applications and mythology, Troika shows how the application of a purely rational and scientific method to practical life is often at odds with the subjective and unpredictable, and how something essential can often be lost in the transfer.

    Die Skulptur „Hebe" ist Teil der Werkserie "Compression Loss", in der Troika Gipsabgüsse von mythologische Marmorskulpturen in einzelne gleichförmige Segmente zerlegt, und diese wieder mithilfe von logisch abgeleiteten Sequenzen oder vorgeschriebenen Variationen wie Verdoppelung oder Komprimierung zusammensetzt.
    Troika greift in Ihren Werken häufig auf Erklärungsmodelle für unserer Realität zurück, und untersucht dabei das Zusammenspiel zwischen Modell und tatsächlich wahrgenommener Realität. Der Titel der Werkserie „Compression Loss“ verweist auf das verwendete Modell der Komprimierung, bei der Daten verdichtet oder reduziert werden um Informationen zu verkleinern, bei der jedoch auch ein Teil der Information aus den Originaldaten verloren gehen kann. Als Resultat ist „Hebe“ – die griechische Göttin der ewigen Jugend – fast nicht wiederzuerkennen. Die einzelnen Teile wurden nicht mehr identisch zum ursprünglichen Vorbild – einem Gipsabguss von Bertel Thorvaldsen – zusammengesetzt. Trotzdem bleibt der Bezug zum Original klar bestehen.
    Indem die Künstler/innen logische Anwendungen und Mythologie einander gegenüberstellen, zeigt Troika wie die Anwendung einer rein rationalen und wissenschaftlichen Methode auf das praktische Leben oft im Widerspruch zum Subjektiven und Unvorhersehbaren steht und in der Übertragung häufig etwas Essentielles verloren gehen kann.
