Haroon Mirza will present Adam, Eve, Others and a UFO for Choral Octet (2025), a newly commissioned audio installation and live performance at Clifftown Theatre in Southend-on-Sea. The work is part of In Other Worlds: Acts of Translation, a group exhibition at Focal Point Gallery in collaboration with the Roberts Institute of Art, exploring translation through myth, memory, language, and material.
This new piece is a reimagining of Mirza’s 2013 installation Adam, Eve, Others and a UFO, translating electronic signals from a small octagonal LED circuit into tones at 111Hz, a frequency associated with bodily and spiritual resonance. These tones will be performed live by an eight-person choir, alongside a text exploring origin stories, delivered by actors from East 15 drama school.
