I ist eine großformatige Skulptur aus runden und rechteckigen Ferritmagneten, in der das rationale Ausbalancieren kompositorischer Elemente mit- und gegeneinander verdeutlicht ist. Der strenge turmartige Aufbau erinnert an eine Architektur, wie sie in ähnlicher Weise auf dem Gitter der Arbeit AIRLINES steht. In I ist die Skulptur vom Raster losgelöst und tritt in unmittelbare Beziehung mit dem Galerieraum. Durch das Umrunden der Skulptur wird die Vielfalt des Materials in seiner Farbigkeit und Struktur sichtbar. Sie zeichnet sich durch einen Kontrast von Freiräumen zwischen den einzelnen Ringen und deren Gewicht und Beschaffenheit aus: durch die Vielzahl einzelner magnetisierter Elemente entstehen starke, aufeinander wirkende Kräfte, die ein genaues Austarieren der magnetischen Felder erfordern. Die geometrische Anordnung vermittelt ein Gefühl von Struktur und Ordnung, die sich gegen die Autonomie der Ferritmagneten behauptet. „Ich mag es, dass die von mir gewählten Stoffe nicht immer komplett beherrschbar sind. So kann eine Abstraktion entstehen, die rein auf physikalischen Gesetzen beruht.“

I is a large-format sculpture made of round and rectangular ferrite magnets, in which the rational balancing of compositional elements in interaction with one another is made clear. The rigid tower-like structure is similar to the architecture on the grid of the work AIRLINES. In I, the sculpture is detached from the grid and interacts directly with the gallery space. While circumnavigating the sculpture, the viewer can detect the diversity of the colors and structures of the material. This is characterized by the contrast between the vacant space and the weight and inherent nature of the individual rings: the large number of individual magnetized elements creates various strong, interacting forces that require a precise balancing of the magnetic fields. The geometric arrangement gives a sense of structure and order that asserts itself against the autonomy of the ferrite magnets. “I like that the fabrics I choose are not always completely controllable. In this way an abstraction can arise that is based purely on physical laws."
