The eighth edition of the Singapore Biennale titled pure intention is organized by the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) as part of the national anniversary year SG60. The biennial focuses on the everyday and the urban environment, inviting visitors to view the city of Singapore from new perspectives. Spaces not typically perceived as exhibition venues are transformed into sites of artistic intervention and reflection. The aim is to make art an integral part of urban life and to strengthen the dialogue between the public, architecture and artistic practice.
More than 80 artists from Singapore, Southeast Asia and around the world are participating. Among them, Ju Young Kim presents works from her series AEROPLASTICS, in which she explores states of transition and zones of passage. Industrial transport modules from airplanes are transformed into symbolically charged objects. By combining stained glass, metal casting, ceramics, and plastic, Kim merges high-tech materials with artisanal techniques, addressing the intersections of technology, movement, and materiality.
