In der Edition „Timeless set“ (2022) kombiniert Nicolás Lamas eine Fotografie einer Ansammlung von Artefakten, Werkzeugen und rituellen Gegenstände mit dem Bild einer Ikea Anleitung. Durch die Gegenüberstellung historischer Objekte mit einem Symbol industrieller Massenproduktion offenbart Lamas, wie sich Vorstellungen von Fortschritt und Funktion über Jahrhunderte hinweg in materiellen Spuren niederschlagen.
Lamas’ Werke entstehen aus dem Zusammenspiel gegensätzlicher Kräfte – Natur und Technik, Ordnung und Zerfall – und lassen hybride Bilder entstehen, die sich nicht linear oder eindeutig interpretieren lassen. Er bricht in seinen Werken starre Konzepte linearen Fortschritts auf und bringt Kunst, Wissenschaft, Technologie und Alltagskultur zusammen, indem er aus einem Fundus an gesammelten Bildern und Gegenständen schöpft. So bilden die collagierten Werke eine neue Sichtweise auf ihre ursprünglichen Kontexte und bieten die Möglichkeit immer neue Schlüsse aus dem Vergangenen zu ziehen, was die Grundlage für die Vorstellung einer möglichen Zukunft bildet.

In this way, the collaged works form a new perspective on their original contexts and offer the possibility of constantly drawing new conclusions from the past, which forms the basis for imagining a possible future.
